This guide attempts to catalogue the most popular chilli’s in the world, provide their scoville ratings & tips to help you grow them.

Scoville is the unit used to measure heat in peppers. It’s named after its creator, American pharmacist Wilbur Scoville, and it’s the standard by which many other hot pepper measurements are based. It’s a special scale that starts at zero for a sweet bell pepper and goes up for each pepper based on how much capsaicin (the stuff that makes peppers truly spicy) is in it.

Hopefully you can work your way up the scale, growing each of these spicy delights and tasting them as you go.
